Katie Travis is an award-winning Soprano, Educator, and Philanthropist with a deep desire to learn, ask questions, and do work that matters.
Katie is best known for playing Christine Daae in The Phantom of The Opera for over 700 performances throughout North America. Broadway: The Phantom of the Opera Regional: Cosette in Les Miserables at The MUNY, Fireside Theater, Liederkrantz Opera Theater. Katie has recently performed with the Saginaw, Midland, El Paso and Mt Rainier Symphonies and in the fall of 2022, Katie did a 37 city tour of Japan as a soloist with the Orchestra Japan in their “Disney On Classic” show. She is a winner of the Lys Symonette award in the Lotte Lenya Competition.
In addition to her private voice studio in NYC, Katie has taught as an adjunct professor of voice for the Musical Theater program at Montclair State University and is currently on faculty at the Penn State School of Theater. Katie holds a BM in Vocal Performance from Central Michigan University, an MFA in Musical Theater Voice Pedagogy from Penn State University and a certificate in Vocology at Lamar University.
As an educator, she has presented a “Yoga For Singers” class at the One Body, One Voice Conference and in 2022 she presented her research on how breast surgeries impact singers at the MTEA conference.
Katie is a proud co-founder of SPARK Artistic Mentorship Program, a free training and mentorship program for students in Mid-Michigan.
In 2017, Katie made the decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy after testing positive for the BRCA2 genetic mutation. She’s passionate about empowering men and women to know their options when it comes to genetic testing and reminding her friends to do monthly self breast exams and yearly mammograms.

She is a certified Reiki practitioner and 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher (April 2020) who continues to learn about body work and holistic healing.
When not performing or teaching, Katie loves to read poety, run marathons, and spend time with people she loves. She once hiked/puked her way up Mt. Kilimanjaro.
